In Hungary we still use the so-called "Eastern name-order" which means that in a name, the family name comes to the front and the given name(s) only after that. Scientists think that it is the remaining of our Finno-Ugrian heritage. Also we discussed it with some Finns and Estonians once that it was the same in Finland and Estonia until the Swedish and the German occupation. They have had the Indo-European name order (1. given name, 2. family name) only for a few centuries.
My question is:
Are there any Finno-Ugrian peoples in Russia who still preserved this kind of reversed name order where the family name comes to the front and the given name afterwards?

This is the typical traditional way in Udmurt to create names: the first proper noun is the name either of 1) father or 2) mother, 3) or clan, 4) or village etc. and the following proper noun is the given name. For example, Kolya Valya means ‘Kolya’s daughter Valya’, Kuchyran Yuri means ‘Yuri from Owl clan’, Karsa Ivan ‘Ivan from the village Karsa’. Very often instead of following proper name just kinship term is used: Vaska pi ‘Vaska’s son’, Karsa pi ‘the boy from Karsa village’.

Vaska pi, in Hungarian we have several names ending in "fi" which means, "the son of". Dezsőfi = Son of Dezső. I know our words starting with F originally started with P... so, in the past we might have names like in Udmurt ending to "pi" also.
